Life Legacy

Rev. David Lee Gray was the eighth child born to Sam Gray, Jr. and Victoria Cheers on October 3, 1964.

David accepted Christ at the age of seven under the leadership of Rev. E.C. Goldsberry at Mt. Tabor M.B. Church in 1971.

David is graduate of Central High School Class of 1984. He was a very dedicated and devoted member of this mighty class.

He had a love for cooking and making people laugh. David was ordained as a minister under the leadership of Rev. Walter L. Debro, Sr.

Rev. Gray was elected as pastor of St. John M.B. Church of Helena, AR after the retirement of Rev. Debro, Sr. He served faithfully as a shepherd of this flock until his death.

Rev. David Gray was a person who loved his family, friends and his ministry.

Rev. Gray would put a smile on everyone face with his witty humor. He was devoted to the St. John M.B. Church Family, The First Baptist Church Family, The Ministerial Alliance, The Masonic Lodge and the Order of Eastern Star.

He is preceded in death by two siblings, Sam Gray, III and Larry D. Gray.

David leaves to cherish his memories; a wife, Patty Gray; two daughters, Shaniece Jones and Latisha Scott;a son, James Scott; four grandchildren, Jerika Rhyan, Jayla Scott, Johnathan Washington and Alexis Scott, who he loved very much;his father, Sam Gray, Jr.;his mother, Victoria Cheers; six sisters, Lonevia (Lewis) Smith, Vickey (Johnny) Franklin, Mae Francis (Willie) Hughes, Almedia (William) Jones, Kangela Wells all of Helena-West Helena, AR, Jodie Hailey of Tacoma, WA; six brothers, Rickey Howard of Inkster, MI, Freddie Gray, Calvin Gray, Anthony Gray, Bill Cheers all of Helena-West Helena, AR, Terry Gray of Jonesboro, AR; a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and host of special friends.
