Life Legacy

Mae Cora Anderson was born April 20, 1943 to the late Sammy Frierson and Etta Smith-Frierson in Poplar Grove, AR. She spread her wings and departed this life's journey on January 16, 2013 at the Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, AR.
She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age. She attended the Pleasant Hill M.B. Church under the leadership of the late Rev. J. W. Frierson. She later joined the Second Baptist Church of Lexa, AR under the leadership of Rev. Calvin Frierson where she remained a faithful and active choir member until her health begin to fail.
She was a graduate of Lakeview High School, Lakeview, AR. She was a proud band member and majorette for the Lakeview Dragons. She continued her education at Phillips County Community College pursuing her degree in nursing and later fulfilled her career in cosmetology.
Mae Cora was a well-known beautician in the Helena-West Helena Community for over thirty years.
Mae Cora was united in holy matrimony to Wardell Anderson for fourteen years, no children was born to this union. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She loved her children and family. She had a special heart for giving and loving other in the community. She will be remembered for her fun-loving witty spirit and personality. Family and friends enjoyed her humorous character. She enjoyed cooking, baking and sharing special dishes with others.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her adopted mother, Evia Holmes, three children; Valarie Holmes, Ray Holmes, Sr., and Rickey Briggs; her siblings, Robert Lee Moore, Herman Houston, Ernestine Gross, Edward Frierson, Rev. J.W. Frierson, and Felecia Frierson; two stepsons, Dwight Thomas and Daryl Thomas, and an aunt Noami Smith-Patrick.

She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted and loving husband Wardell Anderson of Helena, AR; three children, Eyvonne Holmes-Glinsey of West Helena, AR, Raymond Briggs and Laverne Thomas(Ervin)Tucker of Los Angeles, CA; eleven grandchildren, Chevon Lee, whom she raised, of West Helena, AR., Vellette Glinsey, LaDesha Tucker, Ervin Tucker, Jr., Destin Tucker, Indyia Tucker, Ray Holmes, Jr., Lavisha Holmes, Kaylyn Briggs, Karmon Briggs, and Deangelo Briggs; four great-grandchildren, Christopher Haggan, Vaylen Haggan, Cadraunnean Lee and Marzelvalon Johnson, whom she was raising, ; stepchildren; Jason Anderson, of St. Louis, MO, Cassandra Anderson, Kimberly Ralleigh,Darius(Valarie)Holmes, James Holmes, Jr., of West Helena, AR; Pamela Thomas,Thelia Thomas(Henry)Jones, Sandra Thomas, Tony Thomas, Gregory Thomas, and James Thomas of Memphis, TN; six brothers, Roosevelt(Bertine)Frierson, of West Helena, AR, Sammy Frierson, Jr., of Kansas City, MO, Alphonzo(Valarie)Frierson; Leandrew Frierson, Keith Frierson of Atlanta, GA, and Rinalldo Holmes, of West Memphis, AR; six sisters, Josephine Randall and Ernestine Kincaid of Chicago, IL, Billie Jean McCray, Patricia Moore and Polly(Orville)Jiles of Helena, AR; San Jose(Lloyd)Fraction, of Marion, AR; two daughter-in-laws, Cheryl Holmes, of Harvey, IL, and a Connie Briggs, of Marianna, AR, a special sister-in-law, Bealice Frierson, of Lexa, AR, special friends, Ida B. Johnson, of Little Rock, AR and Darrius(Cookie) Jackson, of Helena, AR; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
